From the beginning, we are already seeing intensity in this world. The storm definitely contributes to that, and we don't know how our main characters are going to get through it. Are the storms a regular occurrence? Is this bigger or worse than others? We are already thinking those thoughts.
I can see that we have a strong mother figure for our main character, not just the fact that she seems to be in charge of this ship, but because our eight-year-old character knows how to navigate around during an emergency situation. If anything, she's actually having a lot of fun trying to make sure she doesn't fall off the ship! I already like that about little Anh. I can tell she is going to be an interesting character to follow.
