For someone who was never interested in the original Treasure Island, this book absolutely grabbed my attention.
The combination of gender-swapped characters and the Asian setting immediately made it a lot more interesting, and the way that the characters were introduced had me wanting to read more from the start.
I love that both Anh and Xiang don't grow up in typical settings - they both clearly love adventure, and seem to have a bit more freedom to indulge their curious and rebellious natures. Both of the girls are likable, and I'm absolutely looking forward to reading more of their story.
The cover is gorgeous, and I love the artistic style. Strong female characters, a hint of a dragon, and the seafaring nature of the story are evident just by looking at the cover, and this is one that would grab my attention even if I hadn't seen the blurb.
