This Banh is for Mi
Another five star read!
Enjoyed reading this sapphic YA contemporary novel since it managed to balance multiple topics and having realistic conclusion in each of them.
A Banh Mi for Two follows two Vietnamese teens - one who grew and never even left Sai Gon, Lan, and one who was raised in America and been craving for truth about her Vietnamese heritage, Vivi. What made them connected is a passion project food blog called A Banh Mi for Two which is managed by Lan and being wholeheartedly followed by Vivi. When Vivi decided to find the truth about her past and flew to Sai Gon, she was not expecting to interact with the author of the food blog but fate has a different plan for them.
Sapphic. Sweet. Swoonworthy. Scrumptious.
This debut novel easily became a favorite as the author touched discussion about contrasting family dynamics, privilege, identity crisis, reality about the Vietnam War, and stories about immigrants - all wrapped in a masterfully-written style filled with food and adventures around Sai Gon.
